That big insurance and big med have succeeded in convincing most people that malpractice liabilty caps are populist and that PI attorneys are the enemy is both amazing and sickening. Physicians are already, by far, the most difficult parties to successfully sue.

Sorry Seth, but you are wrong. Kansas does what it does because Self knows how to build a team. There may be four schools next year with better talent, but none with a better team.

Stan, you are absolutely right. As I said in #73 above, bankruptcy law is the very best way to deal with this mess. Unfortunately, Obama rather blew your point about no direct payment proposals out of the water by proposing $100b or so in direct support today.

First, I have never missed or been late on a mortgage payment in my life. Second, I pay more in taxes than the average American family in the bottom income quintile earns in a year. Third, I neither need nor desire any handout from our government.

Funny, the article on MSNBC left out the Insight Bowl; glad to see it appeared here. Kansas in a bowl is rare enough we like to get all the press we can . . .

Not impressed with this article. The biofuel possibility of algae is not new, nor particularly European. The US DOE studied it extensively in the 70's and 80's, and US companies (GreenFuel comes to mind) are well along with projects.

The answer is that home ownership -- and especially home retention -- is an intensely emotional issue. Most lower income people will do almost anything to be able to stay in their home, especially if children are involved.
